Arsenal’s Cheeky bid for West Brom striker – It would seem that past failures to land several targets with entry level bids has not persuaded Arsene Wenger that his low-budget tactic is fatally flawed. He has now turned his attention to West Brom’s Peter Odemwingie, but the alleged bid of £4m for the Nigerian starlet is certain to be met with howls of derision from the Hawthorns. A bid of at least treble that would maybe make a more sensible opening gambit, but it unlikely that the Baggies will part with their star asset for anything less than £15 million.

Drogba Milan bound – Chelsea may be ready to cash in on Ivorian striker Didier Drogba with AC Milan said to be keen to benefit from the last few years of his career. The lack of a manager and ongoing concerns over the purchase of Fernando Torres may hamper the move, but insiders say that these issues are only going to put a short delay on the 33 year old’s inevitable departure. A fee of around £10 million could see the deal sealed before June is out. Football.co.uk probability rating: 75% Bruce to return for more United wantaways – The Sunderland manager is set to raid the lower echelons of former club Manchester United’s first team squad. Wes Brown has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford whilst Darron Gibson has failed to live up to the hype that preceded his initial inclusion in the team. Last season the par managed just 13 Premier League appearances between then and Sir Alex could be tempted by a combined bid of £12 million.

Bubbling Under - Carlos Tevez has returned to Argentina to prepare for next month’s Copa America and has reportedly told friends that he is keen to sort out his future before the tournament begins. Spurs and Napoli are arguing over the value of Wilson Palacios, but the desire of the midfielder to leave the Lane could see the move happen sooner rather than later. Daniel Sturridge is likely to snub a further loan spell at Bolton and return to fight for first team football at the Bridge next season
