Paul Hart is staying on as Portsmouth manager after being offered a two-year contract by new Fratton Park owner Sulaiman Al Fahim. The south coast club have been linked with a number of high-profile candidates to take over from Hart over the summer, but Al Fahim has decided to stick by the 56-year-old. The Abu Dhabi-based businessman moved quickly after getting the greeen light for his £60million takeover. Hart took over as caretaker manager when Tony Adams was sacked in February and helped the club avoid relegation with two games to spare. Al Fahim said: 'Paul did a great job keeping the team in the Premier League last season and having previously worked as director of youth operations he knows the club inside out. 'He has immense experience and a great knowledge of the game and commands the respect of the players. I'm looking forward to working with him.' Hart, who joined Pompey in 2007, said: 'Portsmouth are a fantastic club and it's a great honour for me to be manager. 'The players responded brilliantly to the challenge when I was handed the role last season and I'm looking forward to continuing that relationship as we prepare for our seventh straight season in the Premier League.' Roberto Mancini, Sven Goran Eriksson, Avram Grant and Ivory Coast boss Vahid Halilhodzic were among those linked to Hart's job, while Harry Redknapp had even been tipped for a return from Tottenham Hotspur.
