Tottenham will be offered £40million from Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich for Luka Modric, according to reports. The Blues have been chasing the highly-rated Croatian international playmaker for most of the summer with Spurs supremo Daniel Levy continuing to dig his heels in as he attempts to keep the player at White Hart Lane. However, after seeing bids of £22m and £27million rejected by Spurs, it is claimed that Abramovich will stump up a massive £40million to try and get Modric on board before Wednesday's 11pm deadline.Reports also claim that Levy will offer 25-year-old Modric a new, bumper £85,000 per week contract in an attempt to keep the player for another season, despite the lure of Champions League football on offer at Stamford Bridge. If Spurs manage to keep Modric in north London, it is thought that Chelsea could switch their focus to Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder with a possible £27.5million offer plus winger Florent Malouda on the table.
