Ex-West Ham defender Calum Davenport joins non-league Wootton Blue Cross

Starting from scratch: Calum Davenport [LNB]Former West Ham defender Calum Davenport is trying to rebuild his career by joining hometown team Wootton Blue Cross - who play NINE divisions below the Premier League.[LNB]Davenport, 27, had his Hammers contract torn up in March after being stabbed in both legs by his sister's boyfriend, severing a main artery.[LNB]Ex-Tottenham and Coventry star Davenport had a trial at Leeds last month but was not offered a deal.[LNB]Wootton Blue Cross manager Andy Arnold, whose side compete in the United Counties League first division, said: 'Calum is a local boy and is good friends with a couple of my players.[LNB]'He is on a very long road and if we can help him one per cent of the way back to fitness it will have been worthwhile.'
