Ex-United star Gabriel Heinze opens door to Spurs move from Real Madrid
Real Madrid defender Gabriel Heinze has given Tottenham Hotspur hope of securing his signature after admitting he would welcome a return to the Barclays Premier League.
Spurs have held talks with the Spanish giants over a move for the former Manchester United full-back and could step up their pursuit of the Argentina international after Heinze revealed he would be keen on a return to English football.
'I would not mind playing Premier League football again,' the 31-year-old told Argentine news agency Telam. 'I am aware that several clubs are interested, but I must speak with Real Madrid first.
'I have no idea of where I am going to end up and I am yet to think about my future. I have a contract with Real Madrid and you have to have a professional attitude.
'For sure we will sit down and talk. Still I have one year left on my contract and sharing dressing rooms with amazing players will be great.'
Tottenham are also interested Heinze's Bernabeu team-mates Arjen Robben, Klass-Jan Huntelaar and have linked with Wesley Sneijder.
