Jurgen Klinsmann has become a target for Manchester City[LNB] Jurgen Klinsmann has emerged as a shock target for Manchester City[LNB]after being approached by an intermediary about taking over at Eastlands next season.[LNB]With pressure mounting on current manager Mark Hughes, City are believed to have started sounding out prospective candidates and have already been linked with Luiz Felipe Scolari, following his recent sacking by Chelsea.[LNB]Klinsmann has now been added to the list, following claims that a trusted aide has been contacted to determine whether the Bayern Munich boss would be interested in filling any vacancy at the end of this season.[LNB]A target for Liverpool last season, Klinsmann is fully aware of the development and reacted to it yesterday by saying: 'I always tell my players, like Franck Ribery, that if there is speculation about other clubs wanting you, it is a compliment to Bayern and yourself.[LNB]'If you hear of an offer, you must be flattered, and it applies to managers and coaches as much as players. But I am under contract to Bayern until the end of next season, and my only thought at the moment is trying to win as many trophies as possible in that time.'[LNB] Klinsmann has come under fire from elements of the German media for the way Bayern have fallen four points behind Bundesliga leaders Hamburg and has been targeted, in particular, by Munich's local paper.[LNB]He was especially angered when it even derided this week's 5-0 Champions' League win at Sporting Lisbon as 'Klinsmann's defeat' and claimed all the tactical preparation had been done by the players.[LNB] Manchester City boss Mark Hughes could find himself under pressure in the summer [LNB]City are more interested in his impressive track record as Germany coach and worldwide renown, which they believe would stand them in good stead for any future pursuit of superstar names like AC Milan midfielder Kaka, who turned them down earlier this season.[LNB]City distanced themselves from the claims last night and maintained that Hughes still had their full support.[LNB] West Ham v MANCHESTER CITY: De Jong back in contention after missing out on UEFA Cup victory[LNB]England expects: A decade on from the last all-English top-flight XI, Sportsmail presents a club-by-club guide to homegrown talent[LNB]MANCHESTER CITY FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE NET[LNB][LNB] [LNB]
