The former Blackburn, Chelsea and Barcelona striker, now 31, was undergoing a medical at Spurs on Thursday night and is set to complete the formalities, including international clearance, in time to be available at St Andrews.[LNB]Harry Redknapp, the Spurs manager, said: "Eidur's a good player and he can play several positions for us. He can play in midfield, and the attacking midfield role if we want to change our system. We've lost Aaron Lennon so we haven't got a great deal of width. We can play a diamond formation if we want and he can be a big player in that system."[LNB]However, five strikers could become four with Alex McLeish, the Birmingham manager, confirming his interest in Roman Pavlyuchenko. [LNB]Birmingham have estimated that a 3½-year contract would ultimately cost £23 million. Tottenham have asked for £10 million with a further £3 million in add-ons, but Pavlyuchenko would also expect a considerable signing on fee, and wages of more than £45,000 a week. [LNB]McLeish said: "I would certainly take Pavlyuchenko. If the wages were not too outrageous that would be something that would be reasonably attractive." [LNB]If moves for the Russian fail, McLeish will turn his attention to £4 million Lens striker Aruna Dindane, who is on loan at Portsmouth.[LNB]West Bromwich Albion have agreed a deal with Feyenoord for Dutch international Andwele Slory while Bolton manager Owen Coyle remains hopeful that Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will move to the Reebok Stadium on loan. And QPR defender Fitz Hall could join Newcastle from QPR, also on loan.[LNB]Meanwhile, Luis Jiminez has left West Ham following his loan spell from Inter Milan, in order to sign for Parma.[LNB]Thursdays's deals[LNB]Aaron Davies (Nottingham Forest to Yeovil), James Harper (Reading to Sheffield Utd), Dean Heffernan (Central Coast Mariners to Huddersfield), Tommy Wright (Aberdeen to Grimsby), Chris Smalling (Fulham to Manchester Utd).Loans: Nathan Eccleston (Liverpool to Huddersfield), Robinho (Manchester City to Santos), Dean Sinclair (Charlton to Grimsby).Loan Extension: Adam Clayton (Manchester City to Carlisle), Toumani Diagouraga (Peterborough to Brentford).[LNB][LNB]
