Draw sees Spurs finish top

Tottenham finished above Champions League holders Inter Milan to top Group A after a 3-3 draw with FC Twente. Spurs were handed the perfect start and took the lead in the 12th minute when Sander Boschker inexplicably kicked fresh air instead of Peter Wisgerhof`s back-pass and the ball rolled into the bottom corner. But the hosts were level 10 minutes later when Benoit Assou-Ekotto handled Roberto Rosales` shot and Denny Landzaat squeezed the resulting re-taken penalty home. Jermain Defoe could have restored Tottenham`s lead before half-time when he flicked over but he did get his first two minutes after the break coolly slotting home Aaron Lennon`s pass. Twente hit back again though seven minutes later when Rosales found the top corner with a measured header from Theo Janssen`s cross, but Defoe`s second restored Spurs` advantage when he hit home a rebound from Wilson Palacios` shot. Spurs were denied victory though when Nacer Chadli curled a delightful free-kick over the wall and into the top corner in the 64th minute.
