Defoe relishing Chelsea meeting
Jermain Defoe has warned he is feeling stronger than ever as the Tottenham striker looks to pile the misery on Chelsea in Sunday's London derby at White Hart Lane.
Tuesday night saw Defoe mark his first 90 minutes since August with two trademark goals as Spurs drew 3-3 at FC Twente to secure top spot in Champions League Group A.
The 28-year-old recently returned from 10 weeks out after suffering ankle ligament damage on England duty at the start of September.
He took out his "frustration" on Dutch champions Twente and he looks determined to do the same when Spurs host faltering Chelsea in the Barclays Premier League this weekend. The champions have gone four matches without a league win, surrendering top spot, and are now only four points clear of in-form Tottenham.
Revealing he felt "a lot stronger than before", Defoe acknowledged it was a good time to being playing the Blues but was also wary of a backlash.
"Top teams like that - when they've had a little bit of a blip and they're not playing as well as they normally do - sometimes they can just turn it on," he said. "So it's going to be a difficult game. Good that they're not winning games but it'll still be a difficult game."
