Defoe ready to return

Jermain Defoe has confirmed he is ready to return to training and he cannot wait to renew his partnership with Robbie Keane. Defoe has not played since the end of January because of a broken bone in his foot. Since then Keane has made his return to White Hart Lane from Liverpool, like Defoe did just a few weeks previous when he arrived back at the club from Portsmouth. The two have not played together since Defoe left for Pompey in 2008. When Defoe and Keane were first together at Spurs, many suggested the two could not play together - but the England striker sees no reason why he and the Irishman will not form a potent strike-partnership under Harry Redknapp. "At Portsmouth I played with Milan Baros, he wasn't massive, he's not a target man but he had good movement and we caused a lot problems," Defoe told Sky Sports News. "For some reason people say we can't play together but when I sit down with Robbie, he just says it is people's opinions and when I signed for Spurs first time it was brilliant and I really enjoyed it. "Hopefully I can do it again, I can't wait to get back in there as the boys are playing really well. "But the physios are calming me down as they know the bone has to heal in an injury like this."
