David Villa to Spurs? Ask the fans...

Ever since Spurs disposed of the services of Bulgarian talisman Dimitar Berbatov, they have been longing for a striker who can find the net on a regular occasion. Gareth Bale has filled in the gap admirably this season but I still believe that his true ability lies on the wing, where he can properly utilise his pace and agility to create goals for team-mates. Could Barcelona’s 31 year-old Spaniard be the answer to AVB’s problems? Here are what the fans are saying.

@PeteWeston: world class finisher. Age not an issue. Zola 30 When he signed for Chelsea and he did pretty well for them. Good signing.

@darren_atkinson: for the right price lots of people are saying he would be a good signing.

@HoPinzon: great finisher.

@adamrjaffe: yes, he will score goals, will help us retain Bale and will help attract other serious players.

@BenSpursFan7: Yes! Good buy if happened. Will add something to what we have already got.

@richardb269: quality player, more games, Spurs is the right place for him.

@25027185: I don’t think he’s past it mate, he played every game for Barca last season, and he’s a class player.

@CallumHaymes: Experienced striker who will score goals. Known to be injury-prone. Nevertheless he’s a real talent.

@mhjprentki: Too right. Class act.

@edofcourse: May help to get a CL spot. Agree with @CallumHaymes, injury prone. He has lost speed and certainty. 60’ man at best.

@SimonPThurston: Yes. Experience, both European and International; a proven goalscorer; needs a new challenge; would fit into our system well.

@the5thdeadlysin: Yes.

So the general consensus of opinion on Twitter seems to be that they would love to sign Villa, although they appreciate that he is a risk due to his injury-prone nature. Personally, I think it would be a great signing for Spurs, not only because of what he can offer on the field but also because it would make such a clear statement about the club’s future ambitions.
