Loan star: Beckham could be on his way to Spurs[LNB]David Beckham believes he is close to joining Tottenham after LA Galaxy agreed to a two-month loan stint with an English club.[LNB]The prospect of the former England captain playing in the Barclays Premier League for the first time since 2003 has increased after Spurs entered into formal talks yesterday to try to thrash out a deal. [LNB]If an agreement is reached, Beckham will jet in from Los Angeles to negotiate the finer points of his contract.[LNB]The basis of those discussions will be the use of his lucrative image rights. While Spurs will be entitled to generate cash through shirt sales and the use of 'Brand Beckham' during his stay, a cut-off point must be agreed by which the club can no longer profit from his global iconic status.[LNB]Beckham has decided to turn his back on offers from Spain and Italy and is determined to move to his native London.[LNB]He will almost certainly join Tottenham, although West Ham are monitoring events in case of any last-minute hitches while, despite denials from Carlo Ancelotti, Chelsea cannot be completely discounted. However, an agreement between Spurs and Galaxy is edging ever closer, with the club ready to pick up his £80,000-a-week wages.[LNB]Tottenham boss Redknapp claims his hopes of completing the signing are now in the hands of others.[LNB]He said: 'It is definitely not done - one million percent not. I don't know what has happened. I have left it to the chairman to deal with.[LNB] I want that one: Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has made no secret of his desire to bring the former England captain to the club[LNB]'I think we could do with his know-how, I think he has something to offer but it is out of my hands.[LNB]'I've said I'd like him but it is up to others now whether there is a deal to be done.'If there is a deal to be done, I really don't know at the moment.'[LNB]Galaxy also require that Spurs sign a compensation agreement to cover any losses should the 35-year-old pick up an injury. The insurance clause will be insisted upon after Beckham tore his achilles while playing for AC Milan a year ago, forcing him to miss a big chunk of Galaxy's season and the World Cup.[LNB]The likelihood is that the 36-year-old will be back in LA for the start of the MLS season in mid-March, but it is possible he could stay until the end of that month.[LNB]While he would need to build up his match sharpness, he is understood to be fit enough for a place on the bench.[LNB] Leo Spall: Beckhams and Bentleys left behind by football's need for speedMartin Samuel: Why I would let Beckham run English footballRovers eye Beckham and Duff deals after lodging £20m Ronaldinho bidAll the latest Tottenham news, features and opinion[LNB] [LNB]  Explore more:People: David Beckham, Carlo Ancelotti Places: London, Los Angeles, Spain, United Kingdom, Italy
