DARREN BENT has expressed his relief at finally completing his £10m move to Sunderland.[LNB]The former Tottenham striker finalised the transfer late on Wednesday evening in a deal that could see Spurs recoup the £16.5m they paid for Bent in 2007.[LNB]The forward's transfer looked to be on the verge of collapsing, as the two sides failed to reach an agreement on the transfer fee.[LNB]But the saga, which has dragged on for a fortnight, was eventually completed when Spurs agreed to settle for a smaller upfront fee.[LNB]And Bent, 25, is pleased his old side decreased their demands.[LNB]He said: "It seems like it's taken a long old time to come around, but now it's finally here I'm delighted.[LNB]"I'm feeling relief more than anything as it's been dragging on for two or three weeks and it was beginning to get a bit frustrating.[LNB]"But I'm here now and I'm looking forward to starting the season with Sunderland."[LNB]Bent moved to Tottenham in 2007 on the back of a successful stint at London neighbours Charlton.[LNB] But despite finding the back of the net on 25 occasions in 79 appearances, the four-time England international failed to hold down a regular starting berth at White Hart Lane.[LNB]And Bent revealed that the main attraction to the Stadium of Light was Sunderland boss Steve Bruce?s desire to sign him.[LNB]Bent added: "The club made a real play to get me. They made me feel wanted and that meant a lot to me.[LNB]"I know how passionate the fans are and how much they love football - it's fantastic.[LNB]"There's definitely a lot of potential here as the stadium and the training ground are second to none."[LNB]Bent was Tottenham?s leading goalscorer last season, with 17 goals. And the former Charlton forward has vowed to score even more for his new employers.[LNB]"There are no targets, but if I can score as many as last year and maybe a few more I'll be delighted.[LNB]"The first thing I've got to do is earn my place because we've some fantastic strikers here.[LNB]"Obviously I know Fraizer [Campbell] from last year, while big Kenwyne [Jones] and David Healy are here as well.[LNB]"But I've come here to play football. If I can work hard and produce the goods there should be no problem.[LNB]"I'm a goalscorer and I don't think that will change."[LNB]Are you disappointed to see Bent leave the Lane? Let us know what you think?[LNB]
