Crouch's Spurs warning

Tottenham's England striker Peter Crouch has warned that fans cannot expect to see champagne football every week at White Hart Lane. The striker played a huge part in Tottenham's fourth win in four Premier League matches so far this season when he replaced injured Luka Modric against Birmingham in their last home game. Crouch ran City's defence ragged and finally opening the scoring with a looping header, but City levelled before Aaron Lennon fired a last minute winner and Crouch says that sometimes Spurs are going to have grind out results instead of destroying teams with their attacking style. "You can play great football like we did at Hull, a fantastic performance, but sometimes you have to dig in and get a result and that's what we did on this occasion," said Crouch. "Teams realise we've got a lot of quality and they will perhaps sit back with one up front and try to nick a goal on the break. We got to expect that and overcome that and as we proved against Birmingham, if we keep going, we can get the results. "It would have been nice to score earlier and perhaps the game would have been easier but sometimes it's not to be. You have to look at the at the teams who win titles, Manchester United, Chelsea - they play fantastic football but sometimes they have to dig in and win 1-0, even at home, and that's what we did against Birmingham."
