England striker Peter Crouch admits that Spurs must learn to kill games off if they want to progress in the Champions League.[LNB] Crouch was on target for Tottenham as they raced into a 2-0 lead at Werder Bremen in their first group match on Tuesday evening. [LNB]But Werder battled back and levelled with goals either side of the break from Hugo Almeida and Marko Marin.[LNB]Crouch also missed a good chance late on to win the match for Spurs, and he admits that they need to adapt quickly to Champions League football.[LNB]"When you are away from home in the Champions League, the other team are always going to have chances," Crouch told the Evening Standard.[LNB]"You have to defend well and ride out that storm. I think the disappointing thing was the goal just before half-time. That gave them hope and made their half-time team-talk a lot easier.[LNB]"We needed to carry on what we were doing. We were murdering them at times, certainly down the left-hand side with Gareth Bale, who was fantastic again, and I think we could have gone on and got more.[LNB]"We should have kept the ball more and kept going forward - we sat back a little bit and invited too much pressure on but that is something we will learn with experience."[LNB]Despite the draw, Crouch insists that Spurs can still be proud of their efforts, adding: "We gave a good account of ourselves. [LNB]"It is our first taste of Champions League football and I thought we played very well. We proved that we can be a match for any side but we don't want to get carried away because it is only one game.[LNB]"If you start taking your eye off the ball in this competition, then you get punished. We cannot allow that to happen."[LNB]
