Tottenham players will not be allowed a Christmas party after manager Harry  Redknapp said they're 'nothing but aggravation'.

Ledley King and Peter Crouch are two of the Spurs players to have been pictured  looking worse for wear in the last 12 months, and Redknapp is keen to avoid similar incidents over the festive period.

He said: 'They're nothing but aggravation. Everyone's waiting for you to trip up, or go out and be acting silly.

Christmas cheer: Harry Redknapp

'If they tell me they're having a Christmas party I'll tell them they're not having one.'

Despite sitting in fourth place after an impressive start to the Premier League season, Redknapp said his players don't yet have anything to celebrate.

He added: 'It's a long season, and this is a busy period, a working period.  Every year there's aggravation at every football club that has one.

'They can enjoy themselves but not at this time of the year. One thing they don' t need is to get a load of booze down their neck.'

Stoke know all about the 'aggro' Redknapp is talking about.

The club are still reeling from a confrontation between manager Tony Pulis and striker James Beattie over a dispute about their Christmas party.
