Chimbonda happy at Spurs

Pascal Chimbonda has admitted he is glad to be playing under Harry Redknapp after finding it difficult to work with several of his previous managers. The French defender initially moved to White Hart Lane from Wigan in 2006 before joining Sunderland last summer. He insists he was happy at Spurs but did not always have the best relationship with then boss Juande Ramos. However, Chimbonda endured a difficult time with the Black Cats before sealing a return to Tottenham in the winter transfer window. The 30-year-old has yet to re-establish himself as a regular starter for Spurs but he feels Redknapp is more understanding than other coaches. "I felt fine at Tottenham before leaving against my will, but there were events I disliked," Chimbonda said in Aujourd'hui Sport. "There was a slight problem with Juande Ramos. I preferred to leave, but with regrets. I had good relationships with the fans and the technical staff. "It never went off smoothly both with Roy Keane and Ricky Sbragia. I don't keep anything from my stay there (at Sunderland). "Harry Redknapp is a coach I like and he likes me. He is bothered I don't play and I know it." Chimbonda accepts that Vedran Corluka has been playing well at right-back in recent times but he believes he is good enough to make the spot his own. "I came back to play but you can't change a team that wins, even if I think I am a little better than Corluka," said Chimbonda. "I would not accept the situation but there are only seven games remaining and at the end of the season we will start again from scratch, and then we will see which the best of us is. "I am really fine in England, I am playing with and against great players every weekend. Frankly, it's the best league in the world."
