Tottenham MP David Lammy will take court action against Spurs and insist they change their name to Stratford Hotspur if they move to the Olympic Stadium. [LNB]Lammy is fighting the switch to east London tooth and nail, believing the damage to his local community and the loss of 120 years of heritage is just too much to take. [LNB]He would insist the club changes names and has sought legal advice from experts in intellectual property over taking action on preventing Spurs from using their original name.[LNB] Stratford Hotspur? Here's how Tottenham plan the redeveloped Olympic site will look[LNB]And Lammy, an intellectual property minister in the previous Labour administration, has been told he has a strong case. [LNB]He said: 'Tottenham Hotspur was set up by a bunch of young people at All Hallows church in Tottenham 120 years ago. In the event that the current owners of Spurs take the club to Stratford, a new club will emerge. [LNB]Court action: Lammy will insist Tottenham change the club's name[LNB]'This is no different from the situation that emerged with MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon.[LNB]'Locally I will work with any new team, with the local authority, to ensure we retain the name Tottenham. They will have to take on a different name if they are to leave. [LNB]'I will protect the interests of Tottenham people in ensuring we don't have a club on the other side of London called Tottenham Hotspur that does not reflect at all the interests of the local community as it stands today.'[LNB]Alexander Carter-Silk, head of intellectual property and technology at the law firm Speechly Bircham, said he had advised Lammy: 'This is a complex area which is evolving rapidly.
