Carlo Cudicini signs new Tottenham contract diminishing David James' chances of joining

Cudicini, 36, injured his pelvis and fractured both wrists when he crashed his motorbike into a car last November. [LNB]Tottenham later admitted they were not aware the former Chelsea player rode a bike and with his contract expiring this summer, it was unsure, given his age, whether he would be retained. Manager Harry Redknapp was linked with a move for James in the previous transfer window and now he is a free agent, another move for the England goalkeeper was expected. [LNB]However, Cudcini has impressed Redknapp with his attitude and is now back out in training. He will be working throughout the summer with goalkeeping Coach Tony Parks to improve his fitness ahead of the new campaign, which includes the Champions League. [LNB]With Cudicini fit and with Alnwick and Jimmy Walker also on the Spurs books, James will have to look elsewhere for a club. [LNB]A Tottenham spokesman said said: "We are delighted at how well Carlo has progressed. He has shown a great deal of self discipline and motivation to come back from this." [LNB]
