21 January 2009 21:21
Burnley's Wade Elliott is tackled by Jamie O'Hara 52 mins: Burnley weathering the early Spurs storm. Bentley tries a bit of trickery on the right and his mis-hit cross goes down rather well with the Burnley fans. 49 mins: Bentley tries a cheeky one from outside the box. Skews it wide and striker is met with ....colourful songs from the Turf Moor faithful. Still hasn't scored since his miraculous effort in the 4-4 draw against Arsenal. 47 mins: Good chance fro Spurs. Modric tries a bit of trickery on the edge of the box and his shot drifts a couple of feet over. Spurs coming with more intent this half.  46 mins: Shocking sliced clearance from Kalvenes gifts Spurs a corner. Bentley hits it long but Clarets digs it out. SECOND HALF: Teams are back on. Burnley players huddling. Doesn't look like any substitutions. Clarets kick off. Ooh early cross and Gunter has to put it behind the Spurs goal. Corner does not come to much   HALF TIME: BURNLEY 1-0 SPURS Players trot off for a well deserved cuppa/orange slice or whatever it is they have these days. Burnley looked up for it throughout...can they pull off Cup shock of the season in the second half? Keep it here... 45 (+3) mins: Spurs win a free kick out on the right... but that's it. 45 mins: Three extra minutes added - Jamie O'Hara shows some sublime skill (yes, O'Hara) to charge up the wing for Spurs. Does a couple of Burnley players but is smashed into touch. 43 mins: Good chance for Spurs. Free kick drilled in and not for the fist time Woodgateclimbs to win the header in the Burnley box - straight at Jensen. Robbie Blake celebrates his amazing effort at Turf Moor 39 mins: Substitution - Stephen Jordan hobbles off and Christian Kalvenes comes on. Burnley still taking the game to Spurs. Defoe is on the field (apparently) but  he's hardly in the thick of it up front for the Premier League side. 37 mins: Yellow card - Burnley's McCann scythes down David Bentley to go in the book. That was no nonsense stuff. 34 mins: GOAL Burnley 1-0 Spurs Magical strike from Robbie Blake. Smashes a free kick in past Alnwick from an angle 30 yards out.  Dodgy positioning from the Spurs keeper. Burnley need two more. Game on... 32 mins: Useful looking Robbie Blake creating problems on the right wing - but the final cross is long. Shame after having fleeced two Spurs defenders. 30 mins: Chris Eagles ghosts past a couple of Spurs players and a deflected shot wins the corner. Cross comes to nothing though again. Spurs fans look suitably unmoved in the crowd. Clarke Carlisle (right) chases Spurs' Luka Modric 27 mins: Spurs win a free kick on the left wing after a Robbie Blake foul. Stroked forward but easily gathered up by Jensen. 22 mins: Little chip from Wade Elliott sales over the Spurs bar. Nothing to show for their shots for Burnley - yet. Camera pans ex-Clarets hero Mike Phelan in the stands. Blast from the past. What Burnley would give for one of his a trademark dippers out there. 20 mins: YELLOW CARD - David Bentley clatters in and is lucky not to be off for that to be fair. Two footed off the ground - but that's showbusiness. Straight after a terrific left-footed strike from Burnley's Chris McCann just skims past Ben Alnwick's post. 16 mins: Burnley's 37-year-old Graham Alexander looking busy. Those lungs must be hurting the old boy, no? Zokora seeing a lot of the ball in midfield and Spurs look content to sit on the ball and not do too much with it. Oooh, Modric glances a header wide from a right win cross. 12 mins: Burnley trying to get things going down the left wing. Tackling's good from the Lilywhites. They're spreading it round and look good for their 100-1 on odds for easing through tonight. David Bentley is challenged by Chris McCann (right) and Stephen Jordan at Turf Moor 10 mins: Rain still bucketing down. Burnley trying a bit of Crazy Gang tactics and hoofing it long to the Spurs goal. Good luck to 'em. Dawson, Woodgate et al not looking too stressed. 6 mins: Oooh, Defoe tries one at the other end which fizzes on the surface but parried to safety by keeper Brian Jensen. We've gotta cup tie at Turf Moor. Still no goals. 5 mins: What a save Madness from Assou-Ekotto - tries chipped back-pass from 25 yards. Terrific fingertip save from Alnwick in the Spurs goal turns it round the post. Corner comes to nowt. 3 mins: Alnwick slides in to action to scoop up a Chris Eagles cross. Newbie does well - could be down to his Henry-esque tights. Kick-off: Ball skidding off the surface immediately. Spurs playing a bit of keep-ball in the middle. The crowd giving it the old melodic 'Burnley Burnley Burnley Burnley' Nothing of note of yet. It's raining cats and dogs out there. First start for Spurs 22-year-old goalie Ben Alnwick - interesting Here are the teams... Burnley: Jensen, Alexander, Duff, Carlisle, Jordan, Elliott, Eagles, Gudjonsson, McCann, Blake, Paterson. Spurs: Alnwick, Gunter, Woodgate, Dawson, Assou-Ekotto, Bentley, Zokora, Huddlestone, O'Hara, Modric, Defoe.
