Cameroon omit Bassong from squad

Cameroon's French coach Paul Le Guen has named a strong squad for January's Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.However there is no place in the squad for Tottenham Hotspur defender Sebastien Bassong. [LNB]The tournament's record goal scorer Samuel Eto'o from Italy's Inter Milan will be looking to add to his 16 strikes at his sixth Nations Cup. [LNB]The Indomitable Lions begin their Group D games against Gabon on 13 January before facing Zambia and Tunisia. [LNB]Rigobert Song will enter the record books in Angola as he will playing at his eighth Nations Cup. [LNB]The squad will train in the Kenyan capital Nairobi from 5 January before heading to Angola on 11 January. [LNB]There are two first time call-ups for defender Joel Matip of German club Schalke 04, and Goalkeeper Ndy Assembe of French club Valencienne. [LNB]Seven of the squad will be making their Africa Cup of Nations debut. [LNB]Cameroon, who have qualified for their sixth World Cup, are looking for their fourth continental title and hoping to go one step further than two years ago when they lost 1-0 to Egypt in the final in Ghana.
