Button motors in to Crewe

Crewe Alexandra have bolstered their goalkeeping options for the first half of the season with the addition of David Button. The Tottenham shot-stopper has joined the League Two outfit on a six-month loan that keeps him at the club until 3rd January. The 20-year-old is yet to feature for Spurs' first team, but he has garnered experience on loan with the likes of Grays, Rochdale, Bournemouth, Luton and Dagenham & Redbridge. Although Crewe have the likes of Adam Legzdins and Steve Collis vying for Gudjon Thordarson's No.1 jersey, Button has not joined to warm the bench. "This is a massive opportunity for me and I have come here for the experience and to improve," he told the club's official website. "There is nothing better for a young goalkeeper than to go out and play competitive matches. You learn a great deal when there are three points on the line. "The deal has been in the pipeline for a while but Spurs wanted me to remain with them for the beginning of pre-season. I recently travelled with the Spurs first team and played 45 minutes so that was a great experience. "Once I came back from that things got rolling at Crewe and I was delighted to come up and sign. "Hopefully, I can settle down quickly and show everyone what I can do. There are two good goalkeepers already here at the club but it remains my aim to get into the team and to play as many games as I can."
