Boateng back in training
On loan Borussia Dortmund midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has made a surprisingly quick recovery from knee ligament damage.
The 22-year-old, on loan from Tottenham, has returned to light training three weeks after sustaining the knee injury in a defeat to Stuttgart.
The Germany Under 21 international is eager to get back to full fitness before the end of the season in a bid to earn a permanent deal at the Bundesliga side.
The former Hertha Berlin youngster was never able to secure a first team berth at White Hart Lane and is determined to make the most of his chance at Dortmund.
"I need to give my best, I want to win a permanent contract at Dortmund," he told Bild.
"The manager told me I should not jump the gun, because I would definitely get my chances to shine.
"But I believe I might be able to return to action against Cologne in two weeks time."
Boateng also played down reports that the police were investigating both himself and former Hertha team-mate Patrick Ebert for alleged criminal damage on a night out in Berlin last week.
"I have been talking to Horst Hrubesch (Germany Under 21 head coach) about that already, but investigations could well take beyond the Easter weekend," he added.
"I have not demolished cars and I have nothing to fear in that case.
"Dortmund just fined me for being around on the streets after midnight. That was a mistake I made."
Meanwhile Dortmund executive Hans-Joachim Watzke is confident the future of the club is bright after manager Jurgen Klopp recently signed a contract extension.
"I am more convinced than ever we will be back in the top zones of the Bundesliga soon," he declared.
"In the last few years we just missed out on a little bit. Like a manager leading us back up and that is like the icing on the cake."
