Black Cats close on Bent
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed Sunderland are in talks with Darren Bent over a transfer for the England striker.
Bent was involved in airport drama on Monday when he was pulled off the plane as Spurs prepared to fly to China for the Barclays Asia Trophy after a move became nearer.
Spurs have signed Peter Crouch from Portsmouth - himself a former target of the Black Cats - and that frees up Bent to leave.
Redknapp said: "(Crouch) has joined the club. He has had a medical and everything was fine.
"We now have four strikers as it looks like Darren Bent could move. I believe he is close to doing a deal with Sunderland."
