Sebastien Bassong has revealed that he jumped at the chance of signing for Tottenham Hotspur despite interest from elsewhere. Defender Bassong arrived at White Hart Lane from Newcastle United last week for a fee in the region of £8million. The 23-year-old is poised to make his Spurs debut on Sunday when the club tackle Liverpool, live on Sky Sports 1 & HD1. Prior to his switch to Tottenham, it was claimed that several sides, including Arsenal, were admirers of Bassong's qualities. Bassong, though, is delighted to have joined Harry Redknapp's team and is predicting a positive new campaign for the North London outfit. He said on Sky Sports News: "Yes, there was other interest. But when I knew the interest of Tottenham, my choice was made. "Tottenham have a good squad, good manager and a good reputation. "When the manager came to Tottenham last year he did a good job. "I think Tottenham have the players to finish in the top half of the table. Maybe sixth. I think we will have a good season."
