Bale to get a rest

Harry Redknapp has given Gareth Bale some hard-earned time off ahead of Tottenham's crucial double-header against Manchester United and Inter Milan. Bale has been virtually an ever-present for Spurs this season but is feeling the effects from a succession of stunning performances, capped by last week's sensational San Siro hat-trick. Manager Redknapp wants to ensure the 21-year-old is fresh for Saturday's Barclays Premier League game at Old Trafford and the following Tuesday's Champions League return against Inter. He said: "It will be good to give Gareth a couple of days extra off. I think the kid needs it. I think he's probably going to go away for three or four days and we'll get him in Thursday morning and it'll do him the world of good. "He's tired. The kid runs miles every game. He has unbelievable stats. He takes some beating most days. He runs long distances. "He needs a few days now. He had two tough games with Wales and some tough games with us."
