Bale returns to action

Spurs defender Gareth Bale played 90 minutes behind closed doors as he looks to step up his recovery from injury. The Welsh full-back has been sidelined since June after undergoing surgery to repair a medial meniscal tear on his left knee, but is on the way back to full fitness. QPR travelled to the Tottenham training ground on Wednesday but were unable to prevent a 3-2 reverse at the hands of their hosts, with Bale and goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes playing in the match. Manager Harry Redknapp told the club's official website: "Gareth was involved as he is coming back from injury and we wanted to get a game into him and one or two of the lads played, including Gomes and he was fine." Bale started 24 games for Spurs last season and Redknapp will be hoping he can return to action as soon as possible.
