Bale punished us - Allardyce
Tottenham assistant coach Joe Jordan joined in the praise for Gareth Bale after the midfielder destroyed Blackburn with two goals.[LNB] Bale also made Tottenham's second for Roman Pavlyuchenko in another superb solo performance from the Wales international in the 4-2 victory.[LNB]Striker Peter Crouch got on the scoresheet for the first time in the Premier League this season as Tottenham recorded their first victory in five domestic games.[LNB]Blackburn threatened to make a game of it late on when David Dunn's goalbound shot was deflected home by Ryan Nelson and Gael Givet added a second in the final minute.[LNB]But overall Jordan, standing in for an under-the-weather Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, said: "Some of the football we played in the first half, the openings and opportunities we created, were terrific, especially against a team who did well against Newcastle in midweek.[LNB]"I though we played exceptionally well and should have been further ahead in the first half.[LNB]"Harry is a very positive guy. He wants to play on the front foot. We picked the team to win the game.[LNB]"We are disappointed we conceded two goals. But if you do drop your concentration level that is what will happen. At 4-0 up I thought we failed to pick-up the second balls.[LNB]"I don't think it should take anything away from the result and the football we played. The way we played the game was fantastic. We played some great football."[LNB]Jordan was also full of praise for Bale and Crouch, who notched his first goal of the season in the league.[LNB]"At the moment Bale is a provider and he is also scoring goals," added Jordan.[LNB]"He is so positive going forward but he also does a shift when we have not got the ball. He has got the energy to do that.[LNB]"I think Crouchy deserved it. He has scored his goals abroad this season. But to get it in the manner he did, typifies his game. He followed it up and pounced. It was a terrific goal."[LNB]Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce described his team's defensive display as "diabolical".[LNB]"The game from my point of view as a defensive unit was diabolical and as an attacking unit very exciting," said Allardyce.[LNB]"But it is no good gifting the opposition four goals before you start putting the ball in the back of the net. We are very disappointed about the way we defended today.[LNB]"We gave ourselves too big a mountain to climb by not doing the basic defending right, which is unlike us, unusual, but unfortunate, and we will just have to take it on the chin.[LNB]"We had our times in the game. We had a penalty given against us which wasn't a penalty. Paul Robinson had both hands on the ball but they missed it.[LNB]"We had two chances which we didn't take and then Gareth Bale goes up the other end and puts a cross in and Pavlyuchenko knocks it in for 2-0.[LNB]"That is the telling time in football you have to punish the opposition when you are in control of the game. We made a lot of chances in the second half. But their third goal summed our defending up today.[LNB]"It was a good save from Paul Robinson and the ball falls to Givet. All he has to do is clear but he gives it to Crouch to score. That summed us up today in that one moment.[LNB]"We should really have scored more than two. It was nice to see us open them up in the way we did. But Bale punished us severely today."
