Gareth Bale was left out of Tottenham's starting line-up for their final friendly of the season against Espanyol.

Bale has not played for Spurs since July 16 amid strong interest from Real Madrid, who are willing to break the world transfer record to sign the Welshman after he scored 26 times for the north London club last season.

And he was omitted from Andre Villas-Boas' match-day squad for Saturday's clash against the Spanish side at White Hart Lane because of a foot injury.

Bale, who also suffered from a gluteal problem earlier this summer, has been having treatment on the foot injury over the last week.

Midfielder Isco became the latest Real Madrid player to publicly talk about the possibility of Bale signing for the Spanish club.

He said, in quotes published on Real's website: "The team is really balanced but if he (Bale) comes he'll be another plus, which is never a bad thing. He's a great player. I think we've got a solid team, although he's a good reinforcement"
