Does this make Spurs a one-man team? Of course, Premier League rules forbid fielding just one player; but in an attacking sense it's easy to see why people may claim this. He is turning into a Cristiano Ronaldo-like figure for Spurs. He roams where he wants to pick up the ball and his team-mates increasingly look to pass the ball to him. Not since the days of David Ginola has so much direct attacking play gone through one player at White Hart Lane. It would be unfair to the likes of Aaron Lennon and Lewis Holtby to say they're mere decoy players, who strive to create space for Bale.
They have their own talents - albeit not as much as Bale - but when a player is in Bale's form, you just give him the ball. Spurs are short of strength in depth up front and will need Bale to drive the team forward in the remaining league games if we are to finish in the top four. Robin van Persie dragged Arsenal to a Champions League place last season and here's hoping Bale can emulate him. It's too early to call Bale a Spurs Great yet.
'Greats' do the business over a number of years (and normally win medals) and only after players leave N17 can their input truly be judged. The reality is that a massive cheque would most probably see Bale leave in the summer - so let's enjoy the player and his terrific performances whilst the (metaphorical) sun shines.
