Follow Sportsmail's coverage of the UEFA Champions League where Tottenham travel to AC Milan for their last 16 clash at the San Siro. Harry Redknapp's side return to Milan for the second time this season and will hope to at least improve on their 4-3 defeat to Inter Milan last time out. Email all your thoughts on the action to me at dan.ripley.dailymail.co.uk[LNB] Live scores (7.45pm)Champions League[LNB]AC Milan 0-1 Tottenham FT[LNB]Premier League[LNB]Birmingham 0-2 Newcastle FT[LNB]21.53: A momentous night for Tottenham then, who are on course to progress to the Champions League quarter-finals.[LNB]Over to you Arsenal. The Gunners host red-hot Barcelona tomorrow and will hope for a similar result that their north London rivals have achieved tonight.[LNB]Make sure you check back for Sportsmail's coverage of that game but until then thank you for following and good night.[LNB]21.50: Sportsmail's Des Kelly on twitter:[LNB]Top Graeme Souness quote: 'Gattuso is a little dog and well past his best. I wish he had 5 mins with Joe Jordan in a room on his own'[LNB]21.46: In fairness Jordon didn't look like he was going to react but it's bad losing at its worst from Gattuso.[LNB]Spurs fans won't let this ruin a wonderful moment though, their side have just beaten AC Milan at the San Siro.[LNB]21.44: More drama! Gattuso at the final whistle continues his spat with Jordan and head-butts the coach. [LNB]He is picking on the wrong man and although Jordon maintains his dignity by not reacting, Spurs players and coaches pour in to push Gattuso away from the scene before it gets even more ugly.[LNB]There is something about the San Siro on Champions League nights.[LNB]21.41: Full-time: AC Milan 0-1 Tottenham Full-time: Birmingham 0-2 Newcastle[LNB]21.40: Drama! Moments after Robinho is denied from two yards by a confused Spurs defence, Ibrahimovic has the ball in the net from a bicycle kick.[LNB]But he pushes Dawson in the build up and the goal is rightly chalked off, much to the dismay of the Swede.[LNB]21.39: Fairly uneventful in injury time but Milan in the final minute are still pressing.[LNB]21.37: Four minutes added on.[LNB]21.36: Deary me, Ibrahimovic also tries his luck from 30 yards, but it's just as bad going well high and well wide.[LNB] Famous goal: Peter Crouch fires Spurs in front after the visitors led a quick counter attack[LNB]21.34: Desperate. Robinho drags a shot wide from 30 yards out and that just about sums up Milan.[LNB]21.32: Three minutes left at the San Siro plus added time, and I think we could be looking at an extra five minutes with the incidents in this half.[LNB]21.29: Don't underestimate the importance of that goal. Even if Milan score tonight, that away goal will prove pivotal to the outcome of this tie. [LNB]21.26: GOAL! AC Milan 0-1 TOTTENHAM[LNB]Lethal! Sandro wins the ball outside his own penalty area and after giving the ball to Modric he plays through Lennon who starts a counter attack.[LNB]He goes on a 50-yard-run skipping past Yepes before squaring for Peter Crouch to tap home in to the bottom corner. Spurs have their away goal![LNB]21.24: Final change for Spurs then, with Kranjcar on for Pienaar.[LNB]21.22: FINALLY! Gattuso is booked after ironically winning the ball in a sliding tackle on Pienaar. He reacts by banging his hands on the floor like a bad tempered five-year-old being told he is not allowed a bag of sweets. He will now miss the second leg.[LNB]21.21: Milan still well on top, and Niko Kranjcar is getting ready to come on for Spurs.[LNB] Bad blood: Tempers flared between both teams after Flamini's challenge on Corluka (floor)[LNB]21.18: Sporstmail's Ian Ladyman on twitter:[LNB]Sad to see Gattuso behaving like this. A former great player seeing the game pass him by. #THFC[LNB]21.17: Half-chance for Spurs, a free-kick floated in the box is won by Crouch but his header lacks the power to trouble Amelia.[LNB]21.15: This has become a bad tempered encounter and how has Gattuso not been booked? This time he pushes Crouch in the chest and but yet still no action is taken.[LNB] Throttled: Gattuso grabs Spurs coach Joe Jordan by the throat[LNB]21.12: Milan running the show and looking likely to score, Dawson manages to divert a through ball to Ibrahimovic out for a corner but how long can Spurs weather this storm for?[LNB]21.10: Sportsmail's Des Kelly on twitter:[LNB]That was disgusting from Flamini and worse from AC Milan players demanding a clearly injured player be moved off the pitch. Scumbags. #thfc[LNB]21.08: Van der Vaart's game is up as Luka Modric replaces him. Milan getting on top.[LNB]21.06: Another great save from Gomes! And again it's a Yepes header which he parries away before William Gallas acrobatically clears.[LNB]Moments later Yepes is booked for blocking a Gomes clearance while Woodgate is finally on. Phew![LNB]21.05: This is getting nasty. Spurs coach Joe Jordan squares up to Gattuso and the Italian pushes Redknapp's assistant in the face. That has to be a red card surely?[LNB] Head master: Leon Best (right) doubles Newcastle's lead[LNB]21.03: In fact he is not going to be able to continue and brace yourselves Spurs fans, Jonathan Woodgate is getting ready to come on.[LNB]21.02: That should be a red. Flamini goes flying in with a two footed tackle on Corluka but he only gets a booking, it really is a horror challenge and the Croatian looks hurt.[LNB]21.00: Chance for Spurs 25 yards out from a free-kick but Van der Vaart's strike is straight at Ameila.[LNB]20.58: GOAL! Birmingham 0-2 NEWCASTLE[LNB]Almost a carbon copy of the first. It's Gutierrez again with the assist but this time his cross is to the far post where Leon Best doubles the Toon Army's lead.[LNB]20.57: Here we go now! Mario Yepes rises highest in the box to head a thunderous header towards goal but Gomes pulls off a stunning save to tip it behind for a corner. World class.[LNB]Oh and we are underway again at St Andrews.[LNB] Man down: Ibrahimovic (left) skips past Palacios[LNB]20.56: Nearly a fantastic goal! With his back to goal Van der Vaart catches everyone out with a chip that has Ameila well beaten as it just dips wide.[LNB]20.54: Slow start to this half, Spurs with more of the possession so far. That change from Milan hasn't altered their shape with Robinho slotting into Seedorf's role and Pato filling the gap up top.[LNB]20.51: That is indeed the change as Milan get us going again.[LNB]20.49: They needed something Milan after not having a shot on target in the first half and a change has been made.[LNB]Pato looks like he will replace Seedorf.[LNB]20.45: One outlet Spurs should be pursuing with is Lennon down the right. His crosses need to improve (though we have been saying that for years) but he has had Luca Antonini in knots down that flank.[LNB]20.40: Lots of talk in the office about this being a positive result for Spurs so far, I disagree.[LNB]Without the away goal they are left open to needing to win or avoid a score draw at White Hart Lane to progress.[LNB]They must at least aim to grab an away goal, no matter what context.[LNB]20.35: Half-time: Birmingham 0-1 Newcastle[LNB]20.33: Half-time: AC Milan 0-0 Tottenham[LNB]20.32: Threatening from Milan, a nice passage of play finds Robinho on the left side of the penalty area, but his cross/shot flashes across goal with no Rossoneri shirt on hand to tap it in.[LNB]20.31: Two added minutes to be played following that Abbiati injury. The keeper reportedly suffering from concussion.[LNB]20.30: City are looking the more dominant team at St Andrews but conditions are more like a paddy field, and it's making for painful viewing.[LNB]Anglo-Italian battle: Tottenham's Crouch (white) and Milan's Abbiati (left) challenged each other often early on[LNB]20.28: Top effort from Van der Vaart. He crashes a left foot effort 20 yards out which although is straight at Ameila, forces the sub keeper to tip over the bar.[LNB]20.26: Five minutes until half-time and although I can see the fireworks, nobody has lit them.[LNB]20.23: These teams are evenly matched here. Milan are not liking Spurs' closing down approach and just seem to want more touches all the time. Tottenham though have hardly forced a save from Ameila.[LNB]20.20: Action seems to have hit a lull at the San Siro. The last time Spurs were here, they were already 4-0 down at this point.[LNB]20.17: Dawson is penalised for a foul on Robinho, which looked to be six of one and half a dozen of the other.[LNB]Justice is served however as the free-kick from 30 yards out is hit miles wide by Ibrahimovic.[LNB]20.15: More headaches literally for Milan after Dawson and Ibrahimovic challenge for a header and the centre-backs arm seems to meet the Swede's head. Could have been a penalty that and the forward does go down holding his head.[LNB]20.13: Birmingham starting to get involved more. Roger Johnson heads just wide and moments later Nikola Zigic has a shot well saved by Steve Harper.[LNB]20.11: Sandro is a lucky boy, he naively ploughs into the back of Ibrahimovic 18yards out, but after the Swede goes to ground he is straight away told to get up by the referee.[LNB]He does go down quite easily but I have seen those given many a time.[LNB] Heads up: Tottenham's Corluka (left) and Milan's Ibrahimovic battle for an aerial ball[LNB]20.08: First real action seen from Gomes. Corluka is caught in possession 35 yards from goal but as Zlatan Ibrahimovic charges down the flank, his cross is well punched away to safety by the Brazilian.[LNB]20.05: It looks to be as a result of an earlier incident when he collided with Crouch at 19.57.[LNB]20.04: That is indeed the end of Abbiati, who is taken off on a stretcher and replaced by Marco Amelia.[LNB]I hope he is going to be alright.[LNB]20.02: Bizarre. Abbiati has gone down completely on his own inside the box. He appears in some pain as he holds his head as well, here comes the physio.[LNB]20.00: Unusual pattern of play at St Andrews. Newcastle continue to dominate and Birmingham, who are often so strong at home are really struggling.[LNB]19.57: Corluka is having the game of his life. He threads a perfect through ball for Aaron Lennon on the right and the wingers cross is again punched away by Abbiati who just beats Crouch to the ball.[LNB]19.55: Spurs still the better side and Christian Abbiati is the much busier keeper as he flies off his line to punch Corluka's cross out for a throw in.[LNB]Had he missed Crouch was almost certain to head home into an empty net.[LNB] Peter perfect: Lovenkrands fires Newcastle ahead inside a couple of minutes[LNB]19.53: GOAL! Birmingham 0-1 NEWCASTLE[LNB]Just 95 seconds had gone at St Andrews but Peter Lovenkrands taps in Jonas Gutierrez's cross at the near post to give the Toon Army a dream start.[LNB]19.51: Superb from Vedran Corluka, he evades a tackle on the halfway line before going on unchallenged down the right, sending a cross to the far post for Crouch.[LNB]The striker controls it but a slight intervention from Gattuso means his shot is slightly mis-hit.[LNB]19.49: Any Spurs fans worried about how your team will start fear not, they are the much better side here, doing all the pressing.[LNB]19.46: Good start from Spurs and they should have a penalty![LNB]Pienaar's cross blatantly catches Alessandro Nesta's arm but the visitors only get a corner out of it.[LNB]Kick-off: Crouch and Van der Vaart get us going.[LNB]19.44: Michael Dawson leads Tottenham out as the rain continues to fall quite heavily in the San Siro.[LNB]19.42: Players exchange pleasantries in the tunnel with Robinho and Heurelho Gomes both especially happy to see each other.[LNB]19.39: What is at stake this evening at St Andrews? Ninth place is the answer, both sides can get their with all three points, though Birmingham will probably need to score seven goals.[LNB]Quite an achievement for City if they reach the top-half, only a couple of weeks ago they were in the relegation zone. It's that close in the lower reaches of the Premier League.[LNB]19.36: Rain is falling in Milan, and it's a great atmosphere inside the ground. Bigger than the one between Inter and Spurs that's for sure, though I admit more is on the line in this clash.[LNB]19.34: I said it against Sunderland I will say it again. Sandro could be the key tonight.[LNB]He grew into the game at the Stadium of Light after a shaky start but if he becomes the rabbit caught in the headlights on his Champions League debut, Tottenham could very quickly be in deep, deep trouble.[LNB]19.32: Of course one big player that Spurs were missing last time in Italy is Rafael van der Vaart.[LNB]Both he and Peter Crouch have a very good understanding and it's going to have to be at its best this evening if Spurs are going to get a positive result.[LNB]19.29: Bit of a surprise Steven Pienaar starting tonight. Even Jamie Redknapp was expecting it to be Niko Kranjcar on the left a couple of hours ago so a last minute u-turn for Redknapp snr.[LNB]19.26: Some interest for you Gunners fans tonight. Former Arsenal player Mathieu Flamini starts for the home side and I'm looking forward to see how he can have an impact on this game.[LNB]19.23: I will be honest I cannot believe a couple of those Milan players are still playing. Gennaro Gattuso and Clarence Seedorf seem to have been going on forever, no doubting their class though.[LNB]19.20: Birmingham and Newcastle both field unchanged sides for their Barclays Premier League encounter at St. Andrews.[LNB]City manager Alex McLeish keeps faith with the side which gained a last-gap home win over Stoke at the weekend.[LNB]On-loan striker Obafemi Martins is given the chance to line up against his former club for whom he played for three seasons.[LNB]Newcastle boss Alan Pardew retains the same side which had fought out a goalless draw at Blackburn.[LNB]Birmingham are searching for a third successive league win while Newcastle are bidding to end a run of five league games without a victory.[LNB]19.18: Not just Champions League action this evening though. Hovering under the radar is a Premier League match where Birmingham host Newcastle at St Andrews, where I will keep you updated.[LNB]Birmingham v NewcastleBirmingham: Foster, Carr, Johnson, Jiranek, Ridgewell, Larsson,Ferguson, Gardner, Bentley, Martins, Zigic. Subs: Krul, Campbell, Guthrie, Perch, Ranger, Ferguson,Kuqi.Referee: Lee Mason (Lancashire)[LNB]19.15: So Harry Redknapp returns to the San Siro, where last time out he watched in horror as his side were taken apart in a brutal first-half against Inter Milan where they went 4-0 down.[LNB]You may just remember that a certain Gareth Bale saved face for Spurs that night with a stunning hat-trick, no Welsh wizard this time though. For Spurs' sake I hope Harry has learned his lesson.[LNB]Team news from Italy:[LNB]AC Milan v TottenhamAC Milan: Abbiati, Abate, Nesta, Yepes, Antonini, Gattuso, Thiago Silva, Flamini, Seedorf, Robinho, Ibrahimovic.
