Aaron Lennon has booked his World Cup place with Croatia display, says England captain John Terry

England skipper John Terry believes Aaron Lennon is a dead cert for a place in Fabio Capello's World Cup squad after the flying winger achieved lift-off in last night's rout of Croatia. Lennon produced an electric display in the 5-1 victory at Wembley, winning the penalty that gave England an early lead and laying on the second goal with a pinpoint cross to Steven Gerrard. The 22-year-old had struggled to cement a place in the England line-up since making his debut in 2006, but Three Lions captain Terry insists Lennon is now assured of a place in the squad for South Africa. Terry said: 'Aaron played his way into the World Cup squad with that display. He was given a chance to make an impact and he certainly did that. He was man of the match as well and that has given him a great boost.' Lennon admits he is in the best form of his career, but is refusing to take a World Cup place for granted despite his man-of-the-match performance. 'I don't know if I'm in pole position to play on the right now. I'm not going to say it's my position because there are so many other players who can play there. 'I'm trying to mix my game up, that's the thing I've been improving. 'As I've got older I've played more games, I've got more consistent and it came off for me. 'It was only my second start for England and I didn't know the team until quite late. But I prepared for it like any other game.'
