Uncertain future for Abbey

Friday Dec 15 2006 10:53

Torquay United have offered the former Boston United and Chesterfield goalkeeper Nathan Abbey a one-month extension to his current Gulls contract.

The 28-year-old moved to Plainmoor in the summer and has been a regular in the first team this term.

However, new boss Lubos Kubik is unhappy with the agreement Abbey made with former manager Ian Atkins at the start of the current campaign.

The shot-stopper lives in Luton and only trains once a week which is unacceptable to Kubik who wants him to live in Torquay and work with the rest of the first-team squad every day.

The much-travelled Abbey has played almost 200 League matches for his seven clubs since making his debut for Luton Town almost a decade ago.
