Former manager Colin Lee has returned to Torquay United as the club's new chief executive only two weeks after being made redundant.

Lee will be responsible for naming a new manager after a consortium of South Devon businessmen took control of the Gulls in a deal believed to be worth £1million.

Former owner Mike Bateson sold his 51 per cent shareholding in the club to the nine-strong group which includes the two sons, Cris and Mark, of former chairman Tony Boyce.

Cris Boyce told the Herald & Express: "This represents a fresh start for the club and I hope finally brings down the curtain on the events of the last few months.

"During the 'Chris Roberts era' we looked on in disbelief at what was happening to the club.

"We are planning ahead and there will be a substantial investment."
