Torquay United manager Paul Buckle remains hopeful that defender Chris Robertson will agree a new contract at stay at Plainmoor next season.
The 22-year-old has been with the Gulls since March 2007, but has recently been linked with Burton Albion after failing to pen a new deal with Torquay.
Buckle told the Herald Express: "Chris is a first-team regular as far as I'm concerned.
"I think we have improved him as a player and I definitely want him to stay. We have gone back to him with a second offer, which speaks for itself.
"But it's important that Chris must want to stay with us too. I'm not going to bend over backwards for anyone, that's not right for the club.
"I'll be having another talk with Chris soon and I hope he agrees to sign for us again."
