Gulls still keen on Connell

Bournemouth striker Alan Connell is still on course to seal a move to Torquay United to clinch a regular first-team place.

The 22-year-old is still training with the Cherries, but boss Sean O'Driscoll admits that he may be losing the injury-jinxed frontman sooner rather than later.

He told the Southern Daily Echo: "Torquay are not back in training until Thursday, but I spoke to Leroy Rosenior last week when I was on holiday and we agreed we need to talk again this week.

"Leroy phoned to ask for permission to speak to Alan, they spoke to him and that is the situation as it is. Nothing has changed from that point.

"Alan wants to play first-team football and I think if he gets an opportunity where he is guaranteed it - as much as you can be - then I think it would be very difficult for us to persuade him to stay."
