Gulls part company with Curle

Events at Torquay United continue apace following their relegation to the Conference after it was confirmed that head coach Keith Curle's contract will not be renewed.

Curle was appointed in February but was unable to stop the Gulls' slide towards relegation.

Earlier this week Mervyn Benney replaced Mike Bateson as chairman while director of football Colin Lee was axed.

A brief statement on the club's official website read: "Keith Curle's contract with Torquay United will not be renewed when it expires on 30th June. Keith has been invited to re-apply for the vacant position of first-team manager.

"We hope to make further announcements with regard to the vacancy by the end of the week. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Keith for all his efforts this season and wish him all the best for the future."
