Gulls confirm club sale

Torquay United have confirmed the sale of the crisis-torn club to a consortium headed by 'local and long-term supporters'.

The consortium, brought together by Cris Boyce, has acquired the 51 per cent shareholding in the Conference-bound club previously held by former chairman Mike Bateson.

"We are thrilled by this opportunity and look forward to revitalising Torquay United," confirmed a brief statement from the new owners.

"A fuller statement will be released tomorrow (Friday)."

Boyce is expected to unveil former Gulls director of football Colin Lee as the club's new manager following the brief tenure of Leroy Rosenior.

Rosenior found out ten minutes after he agreed to return to Plainmoor for a second spell in the managerial hot-seat that the club had been sold.

Lee himself was only made redundant on May 14 following the club's relegation from League Two.
