Torquay United have made four additions to their squad in a dramatic bid to pull away from the League Two drop zone.
The Gulls have handed Nathan Simpson a short-term deal after the midfielder was released by Crystal palace earlier in the season.
Darren Baxter, 25, has arrived at Plainmoor from Canadian side Toronto Lynx.
Meanwhile, United have re-signed former midfielder Leon Hapgood , who has been playing non-league football in the local area.
Hapgood was released seven years ago, but has agreed a return on a one-month contract.
The Gulls have also handed a professional contract to 18-year-old defender John Wheeldon, who has been signed from local football.
