Gulls duo to miss Oxford clash

Torquay will be without Elliot Benyon and Dale Tonge when they welcome Oxford to Plainmoor.

Striker Benyon suffered concussion and some bruising to the side of his brain after being knocked out in the Capital One Cup defeat at Swindon. And, having missed the draw at Morecambe, he will also sit out the clash with Chris Wilder's men.

Defender Tonge is suspended after seeing red with four minutes to go last weekend while Martin Rice is expected to continue in goal.

Fellow goalkeeper Michael Poke has resumed training after his thigh injury but was not risked in Tuesday's friendly at Cheltenham and is unlikely to be involved against the U's.

Oxford will check on the fitness of Dave Kitson.

The SkyBet League Two leaders saw their eye-catching summer signing forced off with a shoulder injury in the closing stages of their 2-1 win over Bury last weekend and the former Reading striker will be assessed before the match.

Jonathan Meades remains sidelined with a leg injury he sustained during pre-season but manager Wilder has no fresh injury worries.

Danny Rose looks set to keep his place in the starting line-up after his free-kick set the U's on their way to victory against the Shakers.
