McCourt could start for Gulls

Torquay's newest loanee Jak McCourt is pushing for a start when Mansfield come to Plainmoor.

The 18-year-old Leicester midfielder made his debut as a substitute in last Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Wycombe and will hope to get the nod as Alan Knill prepares to welcome back his three internationals.

On-loan defender Anthony O'Connor, winger Billy Bodin and young goalkeeper Conor Thompson should all be back from international duty as the Gulls look to end a run of three defeats.

Australian centre-back Aaron Downes is making good progress after knee surgery while Ben Harding (foot) hopes to return to training ahead of schedule next week.

Jamie McGuire is back from suspension for Mansfield ahead of the trip.

McGuire received his fifth yellow card of the season during the home defeat to local rivals Chesterfield in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and served a one-match suspension last weekend as the Stags drew 1-1 with Bristol Rovers at the One Call Stadium.

The midfielder is likely to go straight back into the starting line up in Devon but Paul Black and Ryan Tafazolli both sustained knocks while in action for the reserves in midweek and will not be involved on Saturday.

Manager Paul Cox has plenty of options should he wish to make further changes with the likes of Matt Rhead, James Jennings, Ben Hutchinson, Lindon Meikle, Ollie Palmer and Godfrey Poku all available.
