On-loan Cherry ready to be picked

Torquay have been boosted by the news that Jayden Stockley is available for their derby with Bristol Rovers.

The on-loan Bournemouth forward pulled a calf muscle in training after making his Gulls debut in their 3-1 defeat at Scunthorpe but having returned to his parent club for treatment he is ready to feature again.

Manager Alan Knill is optimistic Jordan Chapell will be available to feature having been out with a toe injury.

United face three local derbies over the festive period with a home clash with Exeter after facing Rovers before they head to Plymouth on New Year's Day.

Rovers boss John Ward has a decision to make at centre-back.

Ward threw Mark McChrystal straight back into action for their 2-0 win against Portsmouth on Saturday, shortly after he spent three months on the sidelines with a bout of tendinitis.

His return to action after just a few days' training came because of Tom Lockyer's one-match suspension and the centre-back is available again - giving Ward a welcome selection problem.

And should the Pirates boss decide to shuffle his pack he has the likes of Ellis Harrison and Preston loanee Chris Beardsley pushing for recalls at Plainmoor.
