Torquay have been granted planning permission for the proposed new main stand at Plainmoor. Plans were submitted in August for the replacement stand which would hold 1,750 spectators bringing the Gulls ground overall capacity to 6196. Torbay Council have now signed off on the proposals which also include a fully functional gym and modern changing facilities to comply with new regulations set by the Football League regarding changing rooms and media. The club now need to confirm they have sufficient funding for the project which is expected to be confirmed before the end of the year, with the aim being for the Grandstand to be completed for the start of the 2011/12 season.
