Penalty practice pays off for Gulls

Torquay manager Paul Buckle felt his side got their rewards for practising penalties as they knocked Bournemouth out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. The Gulls won the shoot-out 3-0 after a goalless 90 minutes and Buckle was pleased that his careful preparation came to fruition. He said: "We practised taking penalties and it showed. We have got some good penalty takers and it was heartening to see so many of my players wanting to take them. Seven put their hands up and that's all you can ask. "This is another great result for us against a team in a higher division but we have won our four first league games and confidence has grown. "We had to soak up a lot of pressure during our match but Bournemouth are a good side and it is a hard place to come. "We had to change our shape on numerous occasions during the match but we stuck at it and got our rewards. We may be a small club off the pitch but on it we are growing all the time."
