Gulls held by battling Boro

Torquay slipped from the summit of npower League Two after they were held to a goalless draw by a resolute Stevenage side at Broadhall Way. The visitors had the better of the chances overall, but Stevenage's defence stood firm and just about deserved a share of the spoils. High-flying Torquay just about had the better of a goalless first half, with Danny Stevens and Martin Gritton both going close and Chris Robertson firing narrowly over. Stevenage battled their way back into the game and Ronnie Henry took aim, but his 20-yard drive flew just wide. The woodwork denied Torquay shortly after the restart. Kevin Nicholson fired in a wicked shot from just outside the Stevenage box which rebounded back out off the base of the post. Stevenage rallied late on and Stacy Long tried his luck from distance, but his shot flew inches wide.
