Corr on target for Shrimpers

19 February 2011 18:30
Southend striker Barry Corr took his tally to 14 goals with a late strike to earn a 1-1 draw at Torquay. Corr's strike cancelled out a superbly-crafted 73rd minute opening goal by United striker Billy Kee, after fine work down the right by fellow forward Chris Zebroski. Zebroski's cross from the right was cleverly dummied at the near post by Craig Stanley, allowing Kee the time to pick his spot from a few yards out and beat Southend keeper Rhys Evans. Yet Corr struck to level the scores in the 81st minute when eh tucked away a cross from Ryan Hall. Torquay extended their unbeaten run to four matches but may well have claimed the points in six minutes of stoppage time when Evans brilliantly denied substitute Danny Stevens. Then in the last minute of stoppage time, central defender Chris Robertson saw his effort cleared off the line following an in-swinging corner from the right by substitute left back Kevin Nicholson.
