Buckle proud of performance

Torquay manager Paul Buckle felt the performance of his side in the goalless draw at home to Wycombe was as good as he had seen during his long association at Plainmoor. The home side extended their unbeaten run to nine matches but will be wondering what they needed to do to score after twice hitting the woodwork in the second half as well as running into an inspired performance from visiting goalkeeper Nikki Bull. Guy Branston crashed a 46th-minute header off the inside of the upright and then late substitute Ronan Murray flashed a header onto the underside of the crossbar. Buckle said: "I am very proud at this moment. I thought it was an excellent game of football. Wycombe are a good side and I really like Gary Waddock as a man and a manger and it shows their ambition by the amount of fans they had here. "I have have had 220-plus games at the club and that is as good a performance as I have seen from a Torquay side given the fact that it's getting to crunch time. We are playing against Wycombe, who are right up there, and I thought we were outstanding. "We have hit the post, the bar and Bull has made a fantastic save to keep us out. We did everything but score and I thought we hammered Wycombe but in the end only got a point for our troubles. We can't do a lot more than we did. If we keep performing like that in the next three games we will be in the play offs."
