Buckle hails gutsy Gulls

Torquay boss Paul Buckle lauded his players after watching them shake off Lloyd Macklin's 17th-minute sending off to claim a 2-0 victory at Oxford. The Gulls had taken the lead in the fifth minute courtesy of Damian Batt's own goal and, despite Macklin seeing red, they secured all three points as Billy Kee netted a second in the dying minutes. "My players were outstanding," said Buckle. "Their work ethic was tremendous - at the end, it was all us and we're disappointed we kept missing. "At one stage it was three on one and when that didn't go in, I thought 'oh no, they're going to go down the other end and score'. "It was a poor decision to send Macklin off. The ball was dead and on the floor. He's flicked out with his leg but it was nothing."
