Buckle disappointed with referee

Torquay boss Paul Buckle was disappointed with the referee after his side's goalless draw with Port Vale. Both sides hit the woodwork in a frenetic final five minutes as Chris Zebroski cracked an angled drive off the Vale post in the 85th minute. On the counter attack, Vale substitute Sean Rigg smashed a long-range effort off the face of the United bar. Gulls defender Chris Robertson then had a goal ruled out by the assistant referee as stoppage time approached. Buckle said: "We thought it was a perfectly good goal, we are disappointed it has been disallowed. We were on the front foot at the time and we, again, looked a good side. "In a big game and a big atmosphere I thought my players played very well. In the end I do think we deserved to win but they will probably think a point is a fair result. "We have come a long way since I have been here - a very long way to perform like that against a side like Port Vale. And we have come such a long way this season. We have got a really good shape and we have got a fantastic squad of players here now and we are in a great position in the league. "It's great to see over 3,000 Torquay supporters here and we hope they are here again on Friday because we have got a really exciting team here. It's not just my football club it's everyone's football club it's the fans' club - it's their football club and they need to keep supporting it through good and bad."
