Billy will be Kee for Gulls - Buckle

Torquay boss Paul Buckle believes Billy Kee is a ready made replacement for departed striker Eliot Benyon. The Gulls boss, who revealed Swindon also tried to sign Kee when they snapped up Benyon for £130,000 on transfer deadline day, watched on as Kee blossomed in the absence of his former team-mate in Saturday's 2-0 win over Stockport, scoring his fifth goal of the season. "Swindon were interested in signing Billy, as well as Elliot, and you could see why. But I turned that bid down," Buckle told the Herald Express. "Billy is a goalscorer. He's a bit further on than Elliot was when we first signed him. But we worked hard on Elliot for nearly four years, and now we need to work on Billy for a bit, to get him into shape. "But I believe in him. He's like a tank, nobody can get the ball off him in training, but he needs games. "Tim Sills had to move on to bring Elliot through, and now it's the same with Elliot going. It's Billy's time now."
